In October 2012 and June 2014 we explored the concept of Inbound Marketing and Social Selling in FE with CrowdControlHQ and CrowdMark. The results were disappointing.
When we sent this report out to our FE contacts we asked if colleges would like to be involved with a pilot. Within 3 days of sending the first update 55 Colleges expressed an interest.
The time & cost savings on customer acquisition and sales efforts enabled CrowdControlHQ to offer
Good initial interest but no sales enquiries came from this campaign with a 75% discount.
After reading some great reviews for CrowdMark we got in touch with Founder, James Colliander, to discuss our plans at the time, and he kindly offered a Free Pilot for UK Colleges to find some early adopters and collaborate with them to tweak their services for UK Educators. Again the results were a little disappointing.
A month after this campaign we discovered that the issue had less to do with the approach or these products, but that this area of education was hard to reach during this period due to government cuts and mergers etc. By June 2015 similar campaigns had worked while these had not.
Two failed projects… but at least it all “Failed Fast & Failed Cheap”
